"Bear in mind that the wonderful things you learn in your schools are the work of many generations, produced by enthusiastic effort and infinite labor in every country of the world. All this is put into your hands as your inheritance in order that you may receive it, honor it, add to it, and one day faithfully hand it to your children. Thus do we mortals achieve immortality in the permanent things which we create in common." - Albert Einstein

Election Day in the Philippines

It was election day yesterday in the Philippines. Obviously, both news outlets and social media in the Philippines are teeming with election results. Basic education was not at the center of this election although it underwent a major overhaul in the past few years. Public schools were used as polling places yet public education was hardly mentioned during campaigns and debates.

Some believe that elections can change society. Unfortunately, it is only when we truly see what is going on, that we can change our hearts.

Here are photos shared in Facebook by Troy Colmenares. These photos were taken yesterday at Bacolod National High School. The photos did not come with their individual captions for these speak on their own. But Troy did write the following caption to accompany these photos:
P 400 billion pesos of budget for education, and this is Daang Matuwid's School Building Program. Welcome to Bacolod City National High School.
